Vauxhall Astra Additional Information

This really is a remarkable car with a fascinating history. It was first registered on 1st March 1983 and purchased by a gentleman from West Wickham in Kent. The original sales invoice shows that the car was supplied with numerous options including a five speed gearbox, rear seatbelts and a (very rare) factory fitted steel sliding sun roof. The original owner kept the car until September 1996 when he sold it back to Vauxhall Motors Limited to form part of their Heritage Collection. He also kept a detailed record of every penny he spent on the car during the entire period of his ownership, a copy of which is retained in the history file.

Vauxhall Heritage owned the car for the following 15 years, having refurbished it to collection standard in 1997. It spent a number of years at the Ellesmere Port Plant where it was made and was apparently often displayed in the main reception area. In 2011 Vauxhall rationalised its Heritage Collection of vehicles by offering for sale any cars of which they had duplicates and this car was purchased by an employee.

Considering the volume in which they were produced very few Mk1 Astras have survived, they are a very rare sight today and it is really remarkable to find one in this condition. With the exception of some additional sound deadening insulation installed by the first owner this car is in absolutely original specification and beautiful condition throughout. It drives superbly and everything functions as it should. The car has an advisory free MOT which runs until July 2018, the timing belt and water pump were last changed in April 2015 and the car is HPI clear.

This really is a unique opportunity to acquire a lovely example of this iconic model (Vauxhall's first front wheel drive car) with fascinating history which is, at the same time, a particularly useable family classic which attracts loads of favourable attention wherever it goes.
